Magic Touch summer league report - 26 August 2010
Country Gang again defeat Vagabonds!
Occidentals and Les Hirondelles promoted - but who will take the trophy ? ?
With the heavy rain yesterday, there were, not surprisingly some cancelled fixtures, but other teams did go ahead so here is the update.
The headline result in Division One must be Vagabonds once were once again beaten by Country Gang – this time 5-1. While beating most other teams, Vagabonds seem to have problems each time they come up against Country Gang! This now makes the outcome of the delayed match between Vagabonds and leaders Grantez, who had their bye this week, crucial if Vagabonds are to have a chance of winning the league title.
Country Gang move to third place as a result of their win, but having completed all their matches they now have to sit it out to see if they are overtaken by the lower teams who still have fixtures to play. These four could each move up and while Grouville’s position at the bottom is looking grim, the relegation places are not yet settled!
In division two Occidentals secured promotion winning away to Lollabouts and taking top place from Les Hirondelles on points difference. The final matches next week will decide which of these two teams takes the trophy!
The other division two matches were both drawn and St Mary also drew their outstanding match against Lollabouts. Wednesday Mob Eagles have now drawn 7 of their 11 matches getting so close (losing 13-12 in one game) but just unable to seal the victories! Sadly Fleur de Lys are now unable to avoid relegation, but it is still not known who will join them.
