Junior championship 2010 - Round Three
Today’s junior round was played at St Mary’s with a slightly different surface to challenge the players. We were pleased to welcome Alex Viney who joined in the championship and had some good shots for his first attempt.
All of the players got some points on the coaching challenges this month.
The tyre is certainly proving the toughest challenge with Bradley Cox being the most successful closely followed by Logan Stratford. This really requires superb accuracy!
There was a close finish in the stick challenge with Logan taking the honours with a score of 7 and Fletcher Cox and Cerys Thompson equal on 6. Adam Le Gresley got 4 and Bradley Cox, Holly Thompson and Alex Viney each had 3.
Finally the hoop was tied by Logan Stratford and Bradley Cox each with 8. Logan was the overall winner of the coaching section and takes this month’s 2 points with his total of 16 and Bradley Cox was runner up with 12. Cerys had 10 to come third and Fletcher and Adam tied on 7 and Holly Thompson and Alex Viney each had 6.
The first of the games was a triples as Alex joined in later. This was a very even contest and all players contributed to a close finish! Cerys Thompson, Adam Le Gresley and Logan Stratford were the winners 11-9. Two doubles games were then played with the help of a right handed dad playing with his left!
Although Logan and Fletcher won their game 11-4 the result did not really do justice to the quality of the game. In the other game, Holly Thompson really helped ‘left handed dad’ and they won 11-5. However for his first try Alex tried hard and Cerys and he gave their opponents a good game.
