Magic Touch 2009 Junior championship - final round 12th September
Dom Perez and Logan Stratford win 2009 Championships!
The final round of the Magic Touch Junior Petanque championship was held today at JPC club premises at Les Quennevais.
All the regular players took part and while some of the Trophy winners could not be caught, other placings were still to be won or lost!
Players competed in groups of four according to their ages and each youngster played with and against each of the others in their groups.
Dom Perez (13) having already gained enough wins to top the 12-16 section, played against Chloe Redshaw (13), Wesley Bowen (11) and Jade Perez (11). Dom finished in style winning two of his three games – ironically only losing when he was paired with Chloe who was the overall runner up in this elder group.
The next group saw Jodie Redshaw (11) take on the boys; Logan Stratford, Adam Le Gresley and Ben Thorpe (all 11 years).
Each of the lads won 2 of their games; Adam coming out tops with a +9 to Logan’s +5. There was lots of competitive spirit shown in this group and there were some close results too.
In the third group the youngest players competed, including Aaron Perez who is still not quite 7 years old. Both Evie Le Breton and Cerys Thompson (both 9) were in with a chance of the runner up trophy. Victory was Evie’s in the first game when she won 9-1 partnered with Holly Thompson (7). In the next round Evie and Cerys played together and proved too strong for Holly and Aaron, winning 9-0. In the final round sisters Cerys and Holly played together and they managed to beat Evie and Aaron 9-5. This win proved decisive as it gave Cerys 12 wins and thus the runner-up trophy, from Evie, Adam and Jade who each had 11 wins and Wesley who had 10 wins.
The deserving winner of this younger section was Logan Stratford. Before this round, Logan already had 14 wins to his credit so he could not be caught. He finished with 16 wins in all, but as the best 15 results were used to decide the positions, Logan had 15wins and a net points difference of +73!

To close the season a Junior Open competition will be held on Saturday 24th October at the Weighbridge.
