Jersey retained the Inter Insular trophy yesterday with a convincing 31 games to 17 victory! This was one game better than last year when Jersey won 30 to 18.
There were four rounds of competition and while the first round was close, Jersey edged ahead with 7 wins to 5. In the following round this increased to 8 wins for Jersey giving them a 15-9 lead. With Jersey perhaps relaxing a little, they were held to a draw of 6 games a piece in the third round, but they responded well to this challenge and finished with a resounding 10 games to 2 in the final round!
With 24 Inter Insulars now played, Guernsey are now just one ahead having won 12 to Jersey’s 11 with one drawn. Jersey will certainly be keen to level this off next year!
