2007 INTER INSULAR

GUERNSEY WIN BY 30 GAMES TO 18.

The 21st Petanque Inter Insular between Jersey and Guernsey took place at the Jersey Petanque Club’s premises at Les Quennevais on Saturday 21 July.

The selectors of the JPA had chosen the following team to attempt to try to retain the trophy which they won in 2006, for the first time in the past 8 years:

The first round was played in the morning and was drawn at 6 games each. After a lunch break, the Guernsey team pulled into a slight lead taking the round 7-5.

However, with 9 games won in round three, Guernsey gained a considerable lead, and they went on to win the final round 8-4 to complete a victory of 30 games to 18 and take the trophy back to Guernsey.

Four of the Guernsey teams were unbeaten:

Paul Duchemin and Bonnie Robert,Marcel Edwards and Seb Renaud,Dave Harvey and Fred Wallnofer,Jenny de la Rue and Lee Holberry.

The only Jersey team to win all their four games were Robert Birch and Frank Morel.

Mick Cotillard and Darren le Brun and Ian Rondel and Bernie Birch each won 3 games and Louie Bowen and Derek Hart, Joy Hart and Elaine Paisnel and Robin Stockton and Mary Fennessey each won two.
